Gravel Cycling in the Sierra Pelonas
West LA Lifestyle Touring Team had a blast at the Let's Gravel event this past weekend.
The route followed the Leona Divide Fire Road from Lake Hughes up and down to the Bouquet Reservoir in the Sierra Pelona Mountains. Located northwest of the San Gabriels, east of the Topatopas and overlooking Antelope Valley, this area features premium southern California gravel with sandy double track and panoramic mountain views.
Climbing over 5000' feet in elevation over 35 miles, we rode a mix of gravel bikes and rigid MTBs. 700x45cc tires were the sweet spot. Nate set the team up tubeless, with new tires and mechanical overhauls to ride safely and comfortably. We'd love to help you get your ride ready as well.
